Hey, Church,

Medina United Methodist Church has shut down its buildings and facilities for everyone’s safety, and to do our part to stop the spread of this virus.  The GOOD NEWS is our Church is NOT shut down!  We will be LIVE-STREAMING our Sunday service through Facebook.  And, the day after the service, it will be uploaded onto YouTube.

So, for the next several weeks, we will have our weekly worship experience in a different but EXCITING WAY.  To be clear, you do not need to have a Facebook account to stream our services.  All you need is a LINK, which I have provided below.

During the service, you can ENGAGE in LIVE CHAT, submit PRAYER REQUESTS, and let us know HOW YOU ARE DOING as well as HOW WE CAN HELP YOU with your next step in growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ.  If you’d like us to expand this online experience, we can even have informal ONLINE coffee time with one another after the service.

This is a unique opportunity. I encourage you to use it to INVITE your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to experience our Church.

Your financial support is still important.  I encourage you to continue to GIVE during this rough time so that we can continue to be the CHURCH to our congregation and to our community.  The church still has bills to pay and there are missionaries (Mexico and Costa Rica) that we support.  Rick will help us develop a method for us to make donations online, in a safe secure way, so stay tuned for those details.  Or, you can mail a check to the church to: Medina UMC, PO Box 208, Medina TX 78055

Lastly, I encourage you to join me in something important. Let’s be in regular daily prayer for all of Christ’s churches around our nation and around the world.  Together, let’s ask God to help us SHINE brightly during this tough time.  Let’s also remember to pray for our leaders, health care workers, and emergency responders who are working tirelessly to help us understand and fight this virus.

Here are some FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) about Facebook and the Live-streaming of our services:

  1. Do I have to have a Facebook Account to view the Live Feed?
Answer: No, our Church’s Facebook Page is PUBLIC.  Anyone can view it.
  2. How do I access the Live-Feed of the service?
Answer: Go to our Medina UMC Facebook Page
  3. Can you SEE or HEAR me if I participate?
Answer: No, Video and Sound is only one way.  It’s like watching a television broadcast.
  4. Is there a way to INTERACT with you during the service?
Answer: YES!  We have someone in charge of our “CHAT MINISTRY.” At the appropriate times such as ‘Announcements’ and ‘Spontaneous Moments,” they will monitor these ‘chats’ and then relay the information to me.
  5. If I can’t watch the service LIVE can I watch it later?
Answer: Yes!  All you need to do is visit our Facebook Page or our YouTube Channel.  Here is the YouTube link: Services will be uploaded the following day.

I really believe that God has blessed Medina United Methodist Church for such a time as this!  Let’s be the CHURCH!   (Esther 4:14)

Blessed to be your Pastor,

March 12, 2020 COVID-19 MUMC NOTICE

Medina UMC’s Response to the Coronavirus

Dear Church Family, The news is full of stories of the spread of the Coronavirus, including the recent incident in San Antonio where a person was prematurely released from quarantine and reportedly went into the community, including a visit to North Star Mall, before testing positive and being placed back in isolation. Given news like this, it is understandable that people are concerned, so we want you to know what we are doing at Medina UMC. We are praying, instead of panicking. We know that God is in control and we encourage you to join us in asking for God’s continued protection of our church family, and for God to end the spread of this disease. Pray with us for God’s healing of those who are infected, for God’s peace for the victims and their families, and open doors for the good news of the gospel to reach those who are without Christ in the midst of this trial. We will keep the lines of communication you. You will find information on our church website at and through our Facebook page  if we need to communicate any cancellations, changes to services, classes, or events. If you are not already signed up for our church communication emails, please do so at: What steps are being taken to safeguard people when they are on our property? We have taken steps to ensure that our church is constantly being clean.  Our children’s classrooms and nursery are sanitized after every class and ministry event, including the sterilization of toys, books, and surfaces.   **The most important piece of advice is to remember to frequently wash your hands, and if you or anyone in your family is not feeling well, please stay home.   Again, let us join together in prayer as we trust the One who is in control.  Remember 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”     Use sound judgement! Your Pastor, Bill
